Our target audience were millennials, who usually get all the necessary information from the web. That’s why we decided to collect the history of Georgia’s First Democratic Republic together in an appealing way, to impress youngsters with both content and visual sides. The site served as a support of a social media campaign to have all the information gathered in one place for those who were interested in more information. Website is divided in different aspects of state life that were by that time and it provides stories of the most prominent figures who took part in establishing the first Republic of Georgia.
We created a kind of web version of “home museums” for each person, using their personal things alongside with detailed stories told in order to bring these figures closer to the audience. In addition there are personified elements used on every page, suited on a particular person, i.e. diary tells us about Maro Makashvili as her deeds got known after her famous diary, page of composer Zakaria Paliashvili has a sound of his most famous work and etc. All the images used are real and recreated from archived materials. The main style of the website is a mix of Bauhaus and Dadaism, because these styles were very popular in 1918-1921 Georgia, they were first introduced by Zdanevich here.
More than 100 000 Georgians learned more about Georgia’s First Democratic Republic. On 26th of May Georgia commemorates the adoption of the Act of Independence, which established the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Our aim was continuation of history with shared values.
